Popular musician Partha Barua is all set to judge a music contest in 'A cappella' format. Telecom operator Robi announced the contest titled ‘Robi A cappella’ on Monday.
Partha Barua had a conversation with Prothom Alo about the contest and other aspects of his career.
How are you doing?
I had typhoid and was hospitalized for four days, but I am better now.
Tell us something new about your music career.
I am back in the business, performing at concerts. I will be singing at Radisson on 29 December. The next day, I will perform at Cox’s Bazar. There is no programme scheduled for 31st night though.
How is your acting career going?
I am not working for the screen now. I will finish up the dubbing for Amitabh Reza’s Aynabazi soon. I might do another TV play for Valentine’s Day.
What keeps you busy these days?
I am working on 'A cappella' format. I re-recorded my popular track ‘Bristhi Dekhe’ in this format.
Tell us something about A cappella format.
Bangladeshi listeners are not that much accustomed with A cappella. A cappella music is specifically group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment. I am working on this format. Mobile services provider Robi sponsored a contest titled ‘Robi A cappella’.
Are you associated with the competition?
Yes. The listeners have to dial 83655 to listen to my song ‘Brishti Dekhe’. Then they have to record a group song in A cappella format and send it to me. It is a two-month contest. The best three performers will receive prizes and an opportunity to sing with me in A cappella version.
Is the A cappella version of the song Bristi Dekhe your solo performance?
Keya, one of the top eight contestants of Close-up One 2012, helped me with this song.
